Usher debuted a picture of his newborn daughter Sovereign Bo Raymond on national television Wednesday (Nov. 11), which was her scheduled due date.
He first revealed the precious photo of him kissing his baby girl’s forehead on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and the talk show host described her as a “little porcelain doll.” But he teased, “You believe that until you have to change her diaper!” and how she had plans to be a different Zodiac sign than originally intended.
“She came out early. She was scheduled to be a Scorpio but decided she had a different plan,” he said. “Libras, you know, they kinda have their minds made up what they wanna do.”
Usher and his girlfriend Jenn Goicoechea welcomed Sovereign, their first child together, on Sept. 24. Usher made the announcement via Instagram on Sept. 30, describing how the couple felt “blessed and full of love” with her arrival, which they celebrated by playing Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” “on repeat.”
“Happy 11:11 Sovereign … today was the day I thought you would arrive. You had a different plan … #Babyknowsbest #Godsplan,” he wrote on Instagram today. “‘Life happens when you’re making other plans.’ Is the present a gift or is the present the day? Live every moment. I love what we have, and what made @boogsneffect Te amo mucho.”
Sovereign is Usher’s first daughter. He has two sons with his ex-wife Tameka Foster, 12-year-old Usher and 11-year-old Naviyd, whom he told DeGeneres feel “very, very excited about being big brothers.”
“They’re a little bit too protective, even with me sometimes. And as they get older, I’m less cool of a dad, so now I’m starting this whole cycle over again and I’m kinda the apple of her eye right now,” he gushed.
