Kylie Minogue Lands First No. 1 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart With ‘Disco’

Kylie Minogue commands her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart (dated Nov. 21) with the entrance of Disco. The set earned 19,000 equivalent album units, including 15,000 from album sales, in its first week (ending Nov. 12), according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

The sales sum marks Minogue’s best in a decade, since Aphrodite began with 18,000 copies sold in July 2010.

Disco is also the Australian icon’s fifth top 10 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums (which originated in 2001), joining Aphrodite (No. 2), X (No. 4, 2008), Boombox: The Remix Album 2000-2008 (No. 10, 2009) and Kiss Me Once (No. 3, 2014).

Minogue has 11 career hits on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (which began in January 2013), with six from Disco. The set’s “Magic” and “Say Something” both reach new peaks (and represent her two highest career ranks), at Nos. 17 and 18, respectively.

Minogue first appeared on Billboard’s charts in 1988 and landed her first top 10 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 that fall when her version of pop classic “The Loco-Motion” rolled to No. 3. She added her second top 10 when “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” hit No. 7 in 2002.

On the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart, Disco debuts at No. 26, marking Minogue’s third-best peak, after Fever (No. 3, 2002) and Aphrodite (No. 19, 2010).

Shifting to the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, ARTY, Audien and Ellee Duke dart 3-1 with “Craving.” The first No. 1 for all three acts, the song is collecting core-dance spins on leaders KMVQ-HD2 San Francisco, SiriusXM’s BPM and Music Choice’s Dance/EDM channel. (The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart measures radio airplay on a select group of full-time dance stations, along with plays during mix shows on nearly 80 top 40-formatted reporters.)

Additionally on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Sigala. scores its third top 10 and James Arthur achieves his second with their collab “Lasting Lover” (12-4). Plus, Sam Smith shines with a sixth top 10, “Diamonds” (16-9).
