Today BPI welcomes the publication of the UK Music ‘Music By Numbers 2020’ report. Responding to report, which highlights the value of the contribution that the music industry made to the UK economically, culturally and through its exports in 2019, BPI Chief Executive Geoff Taylor points to the important role that record labels and the recorded music sector play in this growth alongside other key parts of the music ecosystem.
Expressing his concerns in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and the effect this may have on future prospects, Geoff Taylor calls on government to sustain and expand the support that it is giving to the live sector in particular, so that music can play its full role in powering the UK’s economic recovery.
