Tash Sultana scored a new guitar, just in time for Christmas. It’s not just any guitar, but her very own signature series Fender Stratocaster.
Finished in vibrant transparent cherry and completed with all-gold hardware, the new axe hits stores worldwide from Friday (Dec. 4).
And with its release, the Melbourne-raised singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist becomes the first Australian to have a signature series guitar with Fender.
“When I was a kid I had this little plastic red guitar that I used to pretend to shred solos on, fast forward 20 years and now it’s real,” Sultana writes. “To have my own guitar line is something well and truly beyond anything I ever imagined.”
Sultana’s talents and DIY ethos were showcased in the performance video for her 2016 track “Jungle.” The clip went viral and has been viewed more than 188 million times on YouTube, launching her career in the process.
Sultana played every note on her debut album Flow State, which opened at No. 51 on the Billboard 200 chart in late 2018, and went went on to win an ARIA Award. The following year, in 2019, Sultana launched a booking agency, Lonely Lands Agency.
The unveiling of the Tash Sultana Stratocaster caps a present-filled week which began with industry awards for one billion streams, and certifications for “Jungle,” 2017’s Notion EP and for Flow State track “Mystik.”
