Homegrown pop superstar Troye Sivan has enlisted the aid of both Kacey Musgraves and Mark Ronson for a new rework of his In a Dream cut ‘Easy’. Sivan and Musgraves co-wrote the new version, which features a new verse from the latter and Ronson adding his “trademark energetic melancholy”.
Sivan has previously collaborated with Musgraves on the country-pop singer’s 2019 Christmas special The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show, which included their song together, ‘Glittery’.
The new version arrives alongside a video which stars both Sivan and Musgraves traversing some of the grittier areas of Nashville. It was directed by Bardia Zeinali, who also helmed the video for Sivan’s Ariana Grande Bloom collab ‘Dance to This’.
Sivan’s In a Dream, which featured the original version of ‘Easy’, arrived back in August of this year. In our review of the EP, we said the song “pulls on the heartstrings as [Sivan] begs a lover not to leave.”
“The lyrics are polished with slick autotune and layered over ’80s synth, making it the ideal track for crying on the dance-floor (or at least in your bedroom, for the time being).”
