Sia is sharing her support for FKA Twigs. The “Hey Boy” singer tweeted her own claims about how Shia LaBeouf allegedly hurt her on Saturday (Dec. 12) after FKA Twigs — born Tahliah Barnett — filed suit against the actor on Dec. 11, claiming she suffered “relentless abuse” during their relationship.
“I too have been hurt emotionally by Shia, a pathological liar, who conned me into an adulterous relationship claiming to be single,” Sia alleged in her tweet, which included a link to The New York Times report about Barnett’s lawsuit. “I believe he’s very sick and have compassion for him AND his victims. Just know, if you love yourself- stay safe, stay away.”
Sia — who tapped LaBeouf to star in her 2015 “Elastic Heart” video — followed it up with words of support for her fellow singer. “Also I love you @fkatwigs,” she shared. “This is very courageous and I’m very proud of you.”
Billboard has reached out to LaBeouf’s reps for comment regarding Sia’s allegations.
The actor said in a statement to the NYT regarding Barnett’s allegations against him, “I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel … I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”
LaBeouf also told the paper after reviewing detailed accounts of claims made against him that “many of these allegations are not true,” but that he owed the women “the opportunity to air their statements publicly and accept accountability for those things I have done.” The actor said that he is in therapy and is a “sober member of a 12-step program,” adding: “I am committed to doing what I need to do to recover, and I will forever be sorry to the people that I may have harmed along the way.”
