Bah! Humbug! No, that’s too strong, but the bricks 2020 threw at us this year made it harder than usual to get into the holiday spirit.
Enter Haim, who presented us on the seventh night of Hannukah some holiday cheer with their first-ever holiday song. The hilarious spin on The Waitresses’ “Christmas Wrapping” finds the sibling trio busting a move in a Y2K-themed video uploaded to Instagram on Thursday (Dec. 17).
“Seems like Jews are now mainstreaming / News Alert: Oh god what happened? / Wish I was still sleeping / Spent too many days this year / On Tik Tok, drinking wine, and weeping,” they sing in the sadly relatable lyrics, penned by Slave Play writer Jeremy O. Harris.
On a more positive note, Haim also shouted out the redeeming events of 2020, including the election, Zendaya’s Emmy and, of course, “WAP.”
Haim even promoted small businesses, as they “bypassed Amazon and Instagram To locally sourced millennial Judaica.” Their ceramic menorah is made by Kisses’ Jesse Kivel’s company, Judaica Standard Time.
